REPOSE Body Therapy is the massage practice of Amy Howard, CMT.
Her style of bodywork engages many modalities: blending the rehabilitative modalities of Orthopedic Massage (active engagement, cross-fiber friction, trigger point therapy, myofascial release) which focus on specific muscles and patterns of dysfunction in the soft tissue of the body, with deep tissue work to release chronic tension and adhesions in the myofascia, tendons, ligaments, joint capsule, and nerve pathways. In addition, she is skilled at addressing a wide variety of injuries including thoracic outlet syndrome, repetitive strain/overuse, nerve issues, surgical scars, acute conditions and inflammation. Subtle techniques are infused into sessions to address deep seated resistance and encourage mind-body connection. Sessions are tailored for each individual, with the goal of having every client walk out better than they walked in.
Amy’s practice has included working with Olympic athletes in a sport therapy clinic, helping employees at a major animation studio stay healthy and meet the demands of working in a fast paced office environment, supporting pregnant women and new mothers, along with people recovering from surgery and major health challenges.
Amy began her training in 1992 at the National Holistic Institute in Emeryville and has been in practice in the SF Bay ever since. She has continued her education over the years with certifications in Orthopedic Massage, Pre and Peri-Natal massage, and CranioSacral Therapy. With an interest in all forms of bodywork, she has also studied OrthoBionomy, NeuroFascial Release, various forms of MyoFascial Release, sports massage, Shiatsu, and Reiki, along with other types of energy work. As a past member of the faculty at the National Holistic Institute and the Western Institute of Science and Health, her foundational and educational skills have been firmly grounded.
